Existence means having a chance to change things for the better, to experience what is of value and avoid or eliminate what could damage or harm. These possibilities provide us with direction to which we can orient ourselves.
- Dr. Alfried Längle -

The first thing I want you to know about me is that I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit. I have had the privilege of working with people who have overcome tremendous challenges, wounds, and losses. Pain and suffering are inevitable parts of life that can leave people feeling broken, exhausted, anguished, and disconnected from themselves, others, and their values. My aim is to alleviate pain where possible, encourage growth, and walk alongside someone as they learn to bear suffering in a way where they feel a sense of wholeness, where they feel at home in their sense of self, and where they feel they are living authentically aligned with their values and longings.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#15201) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (#10002791). I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. My person-centered counselling approach is trauma-informed, relational, and existential. I work with youth, adults, couples, and families. A common misconception is that you need to hit “rock bottom” before you decide to seek counselling. There are numerous reasons why a person may choose to speak with a qualified professional; everything from taking preventative measures to addressing a full-blown crisis. Whether you’re in a season of life where you’re looking for insight, needing some guidance in making a shift or transition, wanting to change but not being sure how, hurting badly and feeling hopeless, searching for meaning, carrying a burden of past traumas and memories, or in a crisis and you’ve reached your limit – counselling can help.

Outside of my masters-level education, I have also trained in several different therapeutic modalities and draw from these to tailor my approach to the client’s needs. Some of these trainings are oriented towards emotional processing, attachment and communication in relationships, integration of trauma, neurobiology, shame, domestic violence, and existential issues. In addition to helping clients feel better, I also use cognitive-behavioural therapy and mental health education to help my clients think with more congruency. The aim is to help clients feel, think, and relate to themselves and others in healthier ways.

My session rate is $120.00 plus GST for 50 minutes. The session fee is at the end of each session by credit card, cash, e-transfer, or cheque. As a RCC and CCC, my session fees may be covered by your extended medical benefits, please confirm this with your provider prior to our session. I am also an accepted services provider for the Crime Victim Assistance Program.

I am married and live with my husband in White Rock. Some of what enriches my life includes spending time with friends and family, road cycling, mentoring youth, and practicing my Spanish wherever and whenever possible. One day, I’d like to complete a triathlon. I drink my coffee black. Thanks for listening!

Give me a call or send me a short email so that we can connect. I often am in session with clients, and as such I’ll respond to emails and voicemails the same or next business day.

Looking forward to working with you.
