For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction. - Cynthia Occelli - -

A Above all else, I have a passion for helping people to improve their lives and work toward fulfilment. I utilize a number of different therapeutic methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Existential/Humanistic models. I value the client-therapist relationship as extremely important for change and I attempt to work with clients to set their own goals for therapy. I see my role as a facilitator of change in an atmosphere of encouragement, support, and transparency.

I have an M.A. in Counselling Psychology and have been a Registered Psychologist since 2005 (CPBC Reg. No. 1646). I have worked over 20 years in the helping professions in both governmental and non-governmental agencies. I work with individuals, couples, and families, including children ages 6 up. I have varied experience across a number of population groups. My training is in marriage and family therapy working with couples, parents and children. I have worked with governmental organizations, including the Correctional Service of Canada (11 years) and the Provincial Government (Child Protection). I have a strong background in understanding religious and cultural themes and values, especially in the areas of Christianity and First Nations. I have also done a lot of work with insurance companies to provide assistance in return to work situations treating anxiety, depression, or trauma-related stress. I specialize in treating anxiety and depression, anger and stress management, as well as marriage and family issues.

My fees are $180 per hour. I accept cash, cheque, credit cards, or e-transfer. Many extended health plans cover psychological services. Check with your plan for coverage limits, deductibles, and doctor’s referral requirements. I am able to direct bill Pacific Blue Cross and Great West Life as well as RCMP, Department of National Defense, and Veterans Affairs. I work with insurance companies for return to work plans related to mental health leaves.
