PhD, RPsych,
One of the first things you should know about me: I am first and foremost passionate about helping empower others. Empowered to work through past or present hurt. Empowered to move through and overcome challenges. Empowered to grow and thrive. Empowered to live more freely and authentically. I consider it a great honour to come alongside others as they journey through pain, vulnerability, and triumphs. I’m also dedicated to promoting an environment of inclusivity, respect, and appreciation, affirming the dignity and value of all persons.

I have a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and am a Registered Psychologist (R.Psych.) in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. As a Registered Psychologist, I’ve completed extensive supervised clinical training and can provide psychological assessment and diagnosis of mental health conditions. I also hold a full-time appointment as a university professor of psychology and am actively engaged in research and teaching, alongside my clinical practice. This helps me stay updated with current information and approaches—and I find I’m best able to help others heal and grow when I’m continuing to grow myself. Making current research and evidence-based therapy accessible and relatable for people who can benefit most from it is a cornerstone of my practice.

Areas of Interest & Specialization: Living in and relating to our body and self in a healthy way can be especially difficult in this day and age, given the countless messages and pressures we experience. Throughout our lifespan, a variety of experiences impact how we think about, feel about, and relate to our body and self, which in turn also often impact our relationships with others. I primarily draw upon emotion-focused and experiential, mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioural, and trauma-informed approaches to therapy. In concrete terms, I help my clients to understand and improve their relationships with their emotions, their body and self, and others.

While I have training as a generalist and work with a variety of concerns (including depression, anxiety, self-harming behaviour, self-worth, identity, and interpersonal relationships), I have specialized training in the areas of disordered eating/eating disorders, embodiment, and body image issues. I also have have specialized training and skills in providing sex therapy, working with a variety of sexual concerns including low sexual desire and desire discrepancies, sexual pain, and anxiety and shame related to sex and sexuality.

Other Services I Offer: In addition to my clinical practice, I’m available for facilitating workshops and speaking engagements in the areas of body image and embodiment, eating disorders, and sexuality. I also provide clinical supervision.
