Intern Counsellors

Every great helper starts somewhere. Influenced by a deep sense of care and strong capacity for compassion, developing counsellors grow in their own skill thanks to the brave clients who join alongside them. Our clinic has a strong belief in our responsibility to help shape  the future of our profession and strengthen the foundation of the counsellors of tomorrow, as well as holding a deep sense of commitment to offering accessible support to our community. These joined interests are what drive us to offer high quality reduced cost counselling services to our community through our relationship with student interns who we offer support to as they learn and grow in their clinical skills.

Our student interns are current students in a master's in counselling psychology program. They have completed significant course work and a year of practicum prior to joining our clinic. During their time with us they continue to engage in rigorous coursework as well as thorough supervision and consultation with our team of experienced clinicians. As a result, our interns are able to offer evidence-based, high quality care to those in our community who might otherwise have difficulty accessing services due to cost-related barriers.

Our interns are qualified to support clients seeking support for diverse mental health and wellness related concerns. Due to the nature of these services, our clinic's internship program does not service clients in active addiction; those suffering from severe mental health concerns resulting in needs for crisis support (eg. psychosis, consistent and intense suicidality, etc.); or those with tendencies toward violence.

Our interns offer 50-minute counselling sessions for $50/session. Fees are payable in cash, cheque, credit or e-transfer.
