Meet Sydnee Russell
Sydnee has been teaching yoga since 2017 and has a long history working in wellness, as she has also worked as a massage therapist since 2014.
She’s been described by many as sloth-like and specializes in slow intentional movement. Sydnee loves yoga for connecting breath to movement and bringing awareness to what’s happening inside our bodies. Seeing a wide variety of clients in her massage therapy practice she is familiar with typical movement patterns and restrictions that accompany many modern North American lives that are centred around sitting and computer work.
Sydnee is also deeply interested in how humans hold stress and emotions in our bodies, understanding that stress relates to as much as 90% of illness. She designs her classes to stretch and release areas where people commonly hold tension and create balance by strengthening reciprocal muscle groups.
It is also deeply important to Sydnee to bring in all 8 limbs of yoga, including pranayama breath work, meditation and yogic philosophy and code of ethics. More than skin deep, Sydnee hopes you leave class feeling settled, content and having learned ways to practice yoga both on and off the mat to create a balanced and peaceful life.
