I am a limited resource.
So are you.
Each of us brings amazing gifts, talents, skills and capacities to the spaces we exist in – our families, our workplaces, our communities… These are the playgrounds for our amazingness to shine. And yet, so often, these are the exact spaces where we experience ourselves being made small, our gifts quashed, our brightness dimmed. When environments fail to honour the people that exist within them, creativity, innovation, authenticity and care gradually get stamped out, and we are left feeling like a shell of the person we wanted to be.
Creating environments with a high degree of intentionality and thoughtfulness is what allows our daily living experiences to turn into places where we flourish and thrive. These kinds of mindfully created and maintained spaces are what allow the limited resources we bring to become exponentially valuable, and where we, as a direct result, experience being valued.
At it’s core, this is the central mission of ThriveLife. Not only is this mission the heart with which we serve the clients who enter our space seeking to un-stuck their lives and move toward thriving…we actually believe that to care for our clients well, we need to ensure that counsellors are highly cared for and supported to be able to offer the best of themselves to those they serve. And this is the fundamental framework we use to make ThriveLife Counselling & Wellness different from other clinics.
At ThriveLife Counselling & Wellness, we take a unique approach to creating a highly intentional and thoughtful approach to supporting the person and the professional of our team members. We provide a distinctive model that values the autonomy, creativity, clinical interests and quality skilled backgrounds of those who work with us. We offer an environment that reflects valuing to those choosing to give of themselves to care for their clients. We have worked hard to listen to helping professionals and really hear the challenges they face in an effort to meet them in purposeful and attuned ways and meet their needs to support them doing their most effective, skilled and heartfelt work.
And do you know what we find when we provide this kind of genuine supportive care to helpers? They are more satisfied, effective and sustainable in offering high quality care to those they serve.
So, what should you, as a client seeking support look for when looking for a counsellor or other helping professional? Look for a happy helper – someone who is being cared for well by the environment they are in – because they are being given what they need to bring the best of themselves to their work with you.
We are genuinely grateful for the amazing team of counsellors we have the joy of supporting and working with. And we are grateful that in caring for our helpers, we have the opportunity to transform care for those in need of mental health and wellness support. It is with joy beyond words that we are able to serve professionals and those seeking support in our community of Langley, BC, as well as across British Columbia through virtual services. We are honoured to work with counselling students in training, offering reduced cost supervised sessions to our at-risk or in financial need community members. We are also excited to look ahead to a time where we can extend our services to other helping services above and beyond counselling and are hoping to share more soon about our plans to extend our love for helping helpers to a broader range of services to benefit our community.
